Job summary

Piedmont Augusta Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to support the perioperative team. The role involves sterilizing, assembling and storing surgical instruments and supplies, while ensuring timely readiness for cases.

The incumbent collaborates with perioperative nursing staff to deliver instrument sets and case carts, maintains instrument integrity, and contributes to smooth workflow with strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of Central Sterile Tech required.
• In lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years Central Sterile experience required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments.
• Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts.
• Assists in maintaining workflow and provides customer service.

Education

In lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years Central Sterile experience

Responsibilities

Maintains recommended standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• None Required
• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
