Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee invites applications for a Central Plant Superintendent to oversee the Kenwood Campus Central Plant and six satellite plants, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production and distribution of steam and chilled water on a 24/7/365 basis. The role reports to the Central Plant Manager and supervises plant personnel, contractors, and operations.

Responsibilities include directing daily operations, maintenance, and safety, managing budgets and records,

Qualifications

• Five years of progressive experience in power plant operations.
• Experience leading teams and coordinating operational actions.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience developing and executing capital and operational projects.
• Knowledge of power plant equipment functions and interconnections.
• Ability to work overtime and rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Direct 24/7/365 plant operations to ensure safe, reliable production and distribution of steam and chilled water.
• Supervise, schedule, train, evaluate, and discipline staff; manage payroll responsibilities.
• Lead safety and continuous improvement programs and personnel development.
• Oversee plant control systems, water treatment, fuel systems, and records.
• Prepare operational reports and maintain accurate plant documentation.
• Coordinate projects with campus stakeholders and DOA/DFD; liaise on central plant operations.
