Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee is seeking a Central Plant Superintendent to oversee the Kenwood Campus Central Plant and six satellite plants, ensuring safe and efficient steam and chilled-water production on a 24/7 basis. You will supervise personnel, manage budgets, and coordinate with DOA/DFD, campus partners, and contractors to maintain continuous utility operations.

Lead safety and process improvements, maintain plant documentation and reporting, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of progressive experience in power plant operations.
• Experience leading teams and coordinating operational actions.
• Experience developing and executing capital and operational projects while maintaining continuous plant operations.
• Knowledge of power plant equipment functions and system integration.
• Ability to work overtime and rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Direct 24/7/365 plant operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production and distribution of steam and chilled water.
• Supervise staff, oversee payroll, training, evaluation, and discipline; set performance expectations.
• Maintain plant control systems, monitor equipment, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage budgets, contracts, water treatment, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate emergency response, reporting, and liaison with campus partners and contractors.
