Job summary

NLR is seeking aDispatcher to operate the Central Monitoring Station as part of the Emergency Management team. You will serve as the primary on-site contact during emergencies across multiple campuses, monitor alarms, dispatch responders, and maintain detailed logs.

Ideal candidates bring strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft 365 and ability to learn specialized CMS software. This role requires US citizenship and a background check.

Qualifications

Job description


  • Operate NLR's Central Monitoring Station as part of the Emergency Management team

  • Serve as the primary point of contact during on-site emergencies for the South Table Mountain Campus, Flatirons Campus, and local leased facilities

  • Monitor fire and life safety alarms

  • Determine appropriate emergency and non-emergency response levels

  • Contact 911 when necessary

  • Dispatch internal responders

  • Monitor security and surveillance systems

  • Maintain detailed dispatch logs and generate fact-based reports

  • Receive emergency calls and alarms and promptly determine appropriate responses and resources

  • Respond to safety matters, utility outages, drills, and exercises

  • Maintain current knowledge of CMS standard operating procedures and training materials

  • Provide CMS training for all LP personnel

  • Interact professionally with staff, management, visitors, vendors, first responders, and subcontractors

  • Provide input for after-action reviews and identify best practices and corrective actions

  • Collaborate with internal and external first responders

  • Operate and monitor access control, fire/life safety alarms, CCTV, and intrusion detection systems

  • Support investigations, traffic safety interventions, and parking compliance monitoring as requested

  • Provide 24/7, 365 emergency response coverage through three shifts


Requirements


  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience

  • Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience

  • US Citizenship; only applicants who are US Citizens at the time of application will be considered

  • Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date

  • Full knowledge of specialized focused business support functions

  • Complete understanding of business support activities and their practical applications

  • Proficiency in applicable software packages and office equipment

  • Demonstrated project administration skills

  • Knowledge of principles, procedures, and practices related to supported fields and disciplines

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Team and interpersonal skills

  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations, exercise critical thinking and sound judgment, and prioritize emergent and non-emergent situations

  • Ability to quickly and accurately enter detailed information and type quickly while receiving data via phone, radio, or electronic devices

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and ability to learn and use specialized software

  • Ability to prioritize work and maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card, including a favorable background investigation

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
