Center for Faith and Service Student Assistant
Campus Employment

The Center for Faith and Service hires a small team of Student Assistants each year. Rather than filling predetermined roles, we hire students first and then work together to shape a role around their particular interests, gifts, and skills. Once hired, each Student Assistant meets with the Director to develop an individualized plan for what they will focus on and contribute during the year.

Every CFS Student Assistant, regardless of individual focus, shares in the general work of keeping the Center running and helping it feel like a welcoming space for the whole campus. Individual plans then build outward from there, shaped by what each student brings.

We hope your time working at the CFS will help you:

  • Gain real experience in event planning, communication, or community-building, depending on your role
  • Understand what service to others looks like for you
  • Develop an appreciation for the differences that make our community stronger
Shared Responsibilities

All CFS Student Assistants:

  • Staff the CFS during scheduled hours, including some evening shifts
  • Help plan, set up, and staff CFS programs and events
  • Contribute to a welcoming, hospitable atmosphere in the CFS space
  • Assist with general office tasks as needed
  • Meet regularly with the Director to develop and check in on an individualized role
Possible Duties

Depending on your interests and skills, your role might include things like:

  • Managing CFS social media (creating content, engaging with students online)
  • Helping coordinate CFS events (Blood Drive, De-Stressors, Lessons and Carols)
  • Collaborating with student groups on shared programming (Remley, SGA Inclusion Committee, International Students)

We are not looking for a specific skill set or area of interest. We are looking for students who will be a good fit for the culture of the CFS, one grounded in discovering authenticity, extending embodied hospitality, and building intentional community. Beyond that, we want to know what you care about and what you're good at, so we can build a role that lets you contribute in a way that's genuinely yours.

We're looking for students who are:

  • Dependable and consistent
  • Curious and open toward people and beliefs different from their own

No particular major, faith background, or prior experience is required. Students of any faith, no faith, or many faiths are welcome and encouraged to apply.

***PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONLY FOR ACTIVE WESTMINSTER COLLEGE STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED.

Requirements

Time Commitment:

We expect a time commitment of between 5 and 10 hours a week. Actual hours will be considered individually based on each student's availability. A consistent weekly schedule is expected once hours are set.
