Description

Oversee a crew that smooths and finishes surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs to specified textures.

Responsibilities

• Mix cement or epoxy grouts using concrete mixing machines or hoes.
• Signal the concrete deliverer to position trucks for pouring.
• Build or reinforce forms or bracing prior to pours.
• Load, transport, and unload tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Spread concrete to specified depth and consistency, using floats to bring water to the surface for a soft topping.
• Level, smooth, and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete using straight edges, floats, or power screeds.
• Finish concrete surfaces with power trowels or by rubbing with abrasive stones to achieve the desired finish.
• Remove rough or defective spots using grinders, chisels, or hammers, and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy.
• Spray cement mortar or concrete to cover exposed surfaces and grout into drilled holes or between foundations.
• Mold expansion joints and edges with edging tools, jointers, and straight edges.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and workpieces.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with experience in the field or related area. Knowledge of common concepts, practices, and procedures. Works under supervision, relying on instructions and guidelines. Demonstrates some independent judgment and decision-making. Usually reports to a supervisor or manager.

Physical Requirements
