Job summary

BCforward seeks a Scientist II to advance high-throughput LVV and AAV vector production with automation integration and rapid screening for pipeline studies. The role covers upstream/downstream development, QC analytics, and data-driven optimization in a fast-paced setting.

Ideal candidates have experience in transfection, DOE, and ex vivo CAR T engineering using lentivirus, with strong data presentation and cross-functional collaboration skills. On-site in South San Francisco, CA.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology, including transient plasmid transfection, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR/dPCR, and Western blot.

Responsibilities

• Integrate automation into high-throughput LVV and AAV workflows. Program automated liquid handlers for transfection, transduction, dilution and cell seeding.
• Incorporate shaker arrays or micro-scale bioreactors for parallel mini-scale runs.
• Troubleshoot liquid classes, pipetting precision, and plasticware compatibility to minimize variability.
• Develop and optimize a suspension-based LVV upstream platform from seed train through shake flask production and primary harvest using DOE.
• Establish downstream LVV processes with filtration and purification methods.
• Conduct QC analytics for LVV and AAV; characterize quality attributes and integrate QC into development for rapid feedback.
• Manage data, inventory, and protocols; author SOPs and tech transfer documents; present data in meetings.
