BEPC Inc. in South San Francisco, CA is seeking an experienced Scientist II (Viral Vector) for a 6-month W2 contract to support LVV and AAV production, process development, and automation initiatives.

The role emphasizes ex vivo CAR T-cell engineering using lentiviral vectors, mammalian cell culture, and molecular biology techniques. Ideal candidates hold an MS or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience, strong hands-on lab skills, and the ability to design experiments (DOE) and collaborate

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Genetics, or related field.
• 3+ years of laboratory research or industrial experience.
• Hands-on experience with ex vivo CAR T-cell engineering using lentiviral vectors is required.
• Strong proficiency in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
• Experience with PCR, qPCR, ddPCR/dPCR, and Western blot.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize LVV and AAV production workflows to improve yield and throughput.
• Automate high-throughput workflows using liquid handling systems.
• Optimize LVV upstream production including cell expansion and transfection.
• Apply DOE to optimize plasmid ratios and production parameters.
• Develop downstream purification processes (filtration, chromatography).
• Support high-throughput production using automated bioreactors (Ambr 15/250).
• Perform viral vector QC and characterization assays.
• Analyze experimental data and maintain ELNs and sample traceability.
• Prepare SOPs and reports; present findings to teams.
