Job summary

Goins Sweitzer Engineers and Consultants, PLLC is seeking a dedicated NCDOT CEI Technician to join our inspection team in Shelby, NC and surrounding areas. You will perform on-site inspections, document findings, and assist with materials testing to ensure compliance with NCDOT standards.

The role emphasizes accurate reporting, collaboration with project stakeholders, and adherence to safety protocols on diverse infrastructure sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with construction experience or an associate degree plus experience.
• Prior NCDOT construction inspection experience with active materials testing certification.
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and weekends/nights if required.
• Strong math, field measurement, and unit conversion skills.
• Valid driver's license with favorable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspect on-site construction activities for compliance with plans and NCDOT standards.
• Identify discrepancies, defects, or non-compliance issues and report them.
• Maintain daily records using company-provided iPad and generate inspection reports and test documentation.
• Contribute to as-built plan development and pay estimate support.
• Perform materials testing on soil, asphalt, and concrete as required.
• Coordinate with NCDOT staff, contractors, and project stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Monitor safety protocols and enforce best practices on sites.
