Job summary

Goins Sweitzer Engineers and Consultants, PLLC is seeking an NCDOT CEI Technician to inspect project sites for quality and compliance with NCDOT standards in North Wilkesboro, NC and surrounding areas.

The role offers on-site field work with opportunities for on-the-job training and certification classes, including active materials testing. Strong communication and independence are essential for success in this fast-paced construction environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of construction-related experience with a high school diploma, or three years with an associate degree.
• NCDOT construction inspection experience with active materials testing certification preferred.
• Ability to perform field measurements and mathematical calculations.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of roadways, bridges, utilities, erosion control and other components per NCDOT standards.
• Identify discrepancies, defects, or non-conformances and report promptly.
• Maintain daily records using a company-provided iPad and generate inspection and pay-estimate reports.
• Develop as-built records and support test results, material received reports, and documentation.
• Monitor safety protocols and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve issues.
