Job summary

Goins Sweitzer Engineers and Consultants, PLLC in Aberdeen, NC is seeking a motivated NCDOT CEI Technician to join our team of construction professionals. You will inspect roadways, bridges, utilities, and other infrastructure to verify compliance with NCDOT standards and project drawings.

The role involves documenting daily field activities, producing clear inspection and test reports, and collaborating with contractors and NCDOT staff to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years construction experience, or an associate’s degree with 2+ years experience.
• Prior NCDOT Construction Inspection Experience with active materials testing certification.
• Willingness to work weekends and nights if required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform field measurements and mathematical calculations to determine areas and volumes.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of construction activities to verify compliance with drawings and NCDOT standards.
• Identify and report discrepancies, defects, or non-compliance issues.
• Maintain detailed daily records of construction activities using company-provided iPad.
• Generate inspection reports, test reports, material received reports, and pay estimates.
• Maintain records to aid in as-built plan development.
• Perform materials testing on soil, asphalt, and concrete.
• Collaborate with NCDOT staff, contractors, and project stakeholders to address issues.
• Monitor and enforce safety protocols on construction sites.
• Provide regular updates to project stakeholders on progress.
