Job summary

Republic Services in Union City, CA is seeking a Driver – CDL (A) to safely operate heavy trucks, deliver and remove large containers, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. The role requires route efficiency, customer service, routine maintenance checks, and the ability to perform minor container repairs. A valid Class A CDL with air brakes is required; two years’ driving experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior experience driving commercial trucks.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude to perform minor repairs to containers.
• Maintains a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections.
• Safely operate the truck on designated routes and service customers.
• Load/unload refuse, operate compactor, and dispose at the designated facility.
• Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers and team members.
• Perform minor container repairs on site or in the container yard.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag accordingly.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and maintain vehicle readiness.
• Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports.
• Follow safety policies and participate in ReSOP program.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
