Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a diesel CDL driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles, in Wisconsin. The role may include non-driving tasks such as forklift operation and dock work. Starting pay is $25.64/hour, with shifts that may involve overnight or varied hours.

Responsibilities include pre-/post-trip inspections, daily logs, and accurate documentation. You will follow Dispatch instructions, ensure hazmat placarding compliance, and assist as a city driver or freight handler

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
• Maintain accurate daily logs
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Communicate with and follow Dispatch instructions regarding events including delays or issues as required
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and company procedures, and confirm placarding matches hazmat shipments
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service
• Where operationally necessary, perform job duties of a city driver or freight handler
• Where operationally necessary, perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck
• Chain vehicle tires as required
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies
• Perform other duties as required
