Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations between service centers and other points in Iowa. Responsibilities include non-driving duties such as forklift operations and dock work, plus accurate logging and safety checks.

The role requires a CDL, clean MVR, and DOT knowledge. Starting pay is $25.64/hour, with overnight shifts and varying schedules possible.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time and lift approximately 100 pounds periodically.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch following instructions regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment problems.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding requirements as applicable.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Where needed, perform city driver or freight handler duties.
• Operate freight handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck) as required.
