Job summary

Republic Services in Muskegon, MI is seeking a Driver Trainee who will be trained to obtain a CDL and then assume a Driver role across Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off routes.

The program covers classroom study, on-route training, and CDL examination resources, including a loaned truck. After CDL, you will join a Driver position along one of the company’s lines of business with a strong safety focus and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Successfully complete Republic Services’ CDL training program, including classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and access to a loaned truck to take the CDL exam.
• Complete twelve (12) months of employment after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn to perform pre- and post-operation inspections of the assigned vehicle per policy.
• Safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along designated routes and service customers on the route sheet.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls per safety policies to lift and load refuse, operate the packer and dispose of material at the facility.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers per procedures.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable content.
• Maintain vehicle readiness to minimize downtime; clean waste from packer blade and truck body on each trip.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• After CDL, perform Driver responsibilities in one of the company’s lines of business.
