Job summary

Republic Services seeks a Driver Trainee in Michigan who will be trained to obtain a CDL and eventually assume a Driver role in one of the company’s lines of business, including Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off.

The program covers classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and resources to take the CDL examination. After obtaining a CDL, you will drive on designated routes and complete 12 months of service with Republic Services.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Successfully complete Republic Services’ CDL training program including classroom study, on-route training, driving experience and the loan of a truck to take the CDL examination.
• Complete twelve months of employment after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn to perform pre- and post-operation inspections of the assigned vehicle.
• Learn to safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and service each customer as identified on the route sheet.
• Learn to operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the packer and dispose of material at the facility.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers according to procedures.
• Maintain vehicle condition and safety compliance; follow all safety policies.
