Job summary

Republic Services in Michigan is seeking a Driver Trainee who will be trained to obtain a CDL and progress to a Driver in one of our service lines. The program provides classroom study, on-route training, and hands-on experience to prepare for the CDL exam.

You will complete twelve months of employment after obtaining your CDL, learn comprehensive vehicle inspections, safety policies, and how to service customer routes on designated days.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Complete Republic Services’ CDL training program to prepare for the CDL exam.
• Complete twelve months of employment after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle.
• Report safety issues on standard reports.
• Learn to operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and service each customer.
• Operate controls to lift and load refuse, and dispose of material at the facility.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable material.
• Maintain vehicle readiness and clean equipment.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• After CDL, perform driver responsibilities in one of the company lines of business.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
