Job summary

Waste Pro USA Inc. is seeking a Swing Driver in Houston, TX to operate refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned routes, supervise helpers, and perform pre/post-trip inspections in accordance with Waste Pro procedures and DOT guidelines.

Responsibilities include safe driving, customer service, route efficiency, and accurate recordkeeping. CDL is required, with at least two years of waste industry driving experience and English literacy for communications and paperwork.

Qualifications

• Must have a Class A or B CDL valid for the state in which the position works.
• Requires 2 years of waste industry driving experience within the past 7 years.
• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices; understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
• Must be able to speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, dispatch and supervisors, understand highway and traffic signals, and make legible entries on paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, commercial cans, or recycling.
• Oversees work of helpers assisting on assigned route; performs pre-trip and post-trip truck check and cleaning; and performs other related work as assigned.
• Maintains clean truck and washes exterior weekly; inspects under hood and tires and completes DVIR daily.
• Performs daily pre and post-trip inspections as per company procedure and DOT guidelines.
• Prepares and submits required reports and documents to satisfy company and regulatory requirements.
• May assist other routes, attend community events, or deliver bins and carts as needed.
