Job summary

Columbus Technical College seeks a qualified Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) Program Director to lead the program, faculty, and operations. Under the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, you will ensure high-quality instruction, regulatory compliance, workforce alignment, and continuous program improvement across classroom, range, and behind-the-wheel training.

The position requires leadership, collaboration with employers, and delivery of CDL content in line with FMCSA and Georgia DDS

Qualifications

• State of Georgia Class A CDL license required.
• Minimum three years of recent, verifiable commercial driving experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective classroom, range, and behind-the-wheel instruction in Commercial Truck Driving/CDL operations.
• Teach students the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for safe operation of commercial motor vehicles.
• Provide instruction in vehicle inspection, basic vehicle systems, safe operating procedures, defensive driving, trip planning, cargo handling, and other applicable CDL competencies.
• Demonstrate and evaluate proper vehicle control, backing maneuvers, coupling/uncoupling, turning, shifting, braking, and lane positioning.
• Maintain accurate attendance, student progress, grading, and instructional records.
