Job summary

Ohio Department of Transportation in Ironton, Ohio seeks a full-time highway maintenance worker to perform routine road maintenance, flagging and equipment operation. You will maintain rights‑of‑ways, patch potholes, assist in snow/ice control, and help with traffic control in work zones.

Experience with CDL and basic equipment, plus a safety‑driven, team‑oriented attitude, are desirable for outdoor, hands‑on duties in varying seasons.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages & fractions.
• Ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary.
• 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
• Applicant must have valid Commercial Driver’s License at the appropriate level.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance duties including patching, mowing and drainage work.
• Operate heavy equipment and hand tools as part of daily tasks.
• Perform snow and ice control and emergency response as needed.
• Help with traffic control and flagging in work zones.
