Job summary

State of Ohio is seeking a Highway Technician 1 with CDL and tanker endorsement for the Winter Seasonal 2026-2027 in Cuyahoga County. The role involves snow/ice operations, vehicle and equipment maintenance, pothole patching, sign installation, and traffic management during emergencies.

Strong safety focus, ability to work outdoors, and teamwork are essential. Formal arithmetic skills and a basic reading/writing ability in English are required.

Qualifications

• Formal arithmetic education including addition & subtraction, decimals, percentages & fractions.
• Ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary.
• 3 months of training or 3 months of experience operating basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Snow and Ice duties on the roadway for 8-12 hours; fleet readiness inspections and washing of snow and ice equipment; greasing equipment; blade changing.
• General facilities maintenance.
• Pothole patching and roadway remediation crew duties.
• Assist with sign installation along 2-, 4-, and multi-lane routes.
• Operate articulated loader to load dump trucks for snow/ice operations.
• Assist with maintenance of traffic for roadway emergencies.
• Highway beautification and litter removal when needed.
