Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation, Centre County Maintenance Organization, is seeking full-time CDL Equipment Operators to maintain Pennsylvania’s highway and bridge systems. As a PennDOT CDL Operator A, you will operate trucks, loaders, and other equipment, perform flagger duties, and contribute to safe travel across the county.

This role requires an active Pennsylvania Class A or B CDL with air brake restriction removed, and an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee program or equivalent.
• Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Must obtain active PennDOT heavy truck/loader certification within probation.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment for highway and bridge maintenance.
• Maintain a valid CDL without air brake restrictions and complete required certifications.
• Perform flagger duties to ensure safe traffic flow during maintenance.
• Carry out manual labor tasks such as clearing culverts, mowing, and repairing guiderails.
• Carry out field adjustments, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and report hazards to maintain a safe work environment.
