Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation in West Columbia seeks a full-time truck operator to haul pipe, debris, signs, and equipment to job sites. You will drive a 5-yard truck and perform routine maintenance while keeping service records.

Role includes assisting with drainage ditches, shoulder cleaning, and installing traffic control devices per SC MUTCD. May operate a backhoe or tandem truck as needed; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A required within 6 months of placement.
• No minimum training or experience required.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Operate a 5-yard truck to haul pipe, debris, signs, and equipment.
• Picks up materials from vendors; ensure tarp and cleanliness.
• Maintain truck records and perform preventative maintenance.
• Work with crew to manage drainage ditches and shoulders.
• Assist with traffic control and use of signs per SC MUTCD.
• May operate backhoe or tandem truck as needed.
• Occasional extended shifts, overtime, or night work.
