Job summary

Homewood & Meeks, a Division of US LBM, is seeking a CDL Driver I in California to safely transport materials to job sites and other locations, with occasional inter-state travel.

You will perform pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain DOT logs, load and unload materials, and deliver with strong customer service. A Class A or B CDL is required, with 1–2 years of CDL experience preferred.

This role emphasizes safety, compliance, and teamwork in a relaxed, hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.
• 1-2 years CDL experience preferred.
• Experience transporting and handling lumber and building materials required.

Responsibilities

• Operates Class A or B commercial vehicles in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner.
• Delivers to both active construction sites and completed build locations; city-based deliveries and inter-state travel may be required.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections to ensure vehicle safety and regulatory compliance.
• Provides exceptional customer service by maintaining a professional demeanor and relaying messages from customers on site.
• Organizes and secures loads and verifies orders for accuracy before departure and on delivery.
• Prepares and maintains DOT-compliant logs of driving hours and rest periods.
• Delivers and unloads materials safely and ensures customer satisfaction at delivery.
• Operates a truck-mounted forklift to load/unload and transport materials.
• Keeps the truck clean and organized; assists in warehouse stocking and inventory organization.
