Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking qualified candidates to operate tractor-trailer equipment and perform dock duties at our Washington-area facility. This role involves pre-trip and post-trip inspections, freight handling, securing loads, and providing reliable customer service.

Employees will work with various equipment, comply with hazmat/DOT regulations, and participate in additional duties as required. Pay ranges per hour and benefits are described in the posting.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds multiple times per week.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and convertor dollies.
• Handle freight with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Maintain documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch on delays, arrivals, and equipment issues.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Assist customers with pickup or delivery needs.
• Potentially perform road driver or freight handler duties as needed.
