Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a safety-conscious CDL driver trainee/qualified operator to master tractor-trailer operations and dock duties. You will perform pre-trip inspections, handle freight with forklifts and pallet jacks, and communicate with Dispatch to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.

Responsibilities include securing loads, recouping damaged freight, completing required reports, and providing excellent customer service on behalf of FedEx Freight. CDL A is required.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or CLP required before entering job classification.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from tractor/trailer.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and customers regarding pickups/deliveries.
• Provide internal/external customer service.
