Job summary

FedEx Freight in Pennsylvania is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles or straight trucks, with duties on dock work when needed. Starting rate of pay is $25.64 per hour, with emphasis on safety, logs, and customer service.

Responsibilities include pre/post/inter-trip inspections, documentation, hazmat compliance, and effective communication with Dispatch. CDL is required; some overnight travel may be required, and a DOT-mandated standard must be met.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of approximately 100 pounds multiple times daily.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with and follow Dispatch instructions regarding events including delays, arrivals, equipment problems.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding per DOT requirements.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Where operationally necessary, perform city driver or freight handler duties.
• Where operationally necessary, perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Chain vehicle tires as required.
• Follow all laws/regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
