Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver/dock associate in the Canton, OH area. This role involves operating tractor-trailers (including doubles/straight trucks), performing safety inspections, and handling freight with forklifts and hand trucks.

You will secure shipments, document regulatory checks, and communicate with Dispatch to coordinate pickups and deliveries. The position requires a CDL Class A or CLP, a valid MVR, and DOT compliance.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or CLP required before entering job classification.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR, Part 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, several times a day.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Working conditions include driving in various weather, noise, and exposure to diesel fumes.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and move equipment as needed.
• Handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight with pallets, straps, and ropes inside trailers.
• Maintain required documentation and reports.
• Follow Dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Assist with pick-up/delivery needs and customer contact.
• Perform dock duties and, if needed, road driver tasks.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
