Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. in Williamsport, MD is seeking a tractor-trailer operator with a Class A CDL. Starting pay is $25.64 per hour with opportunities to earn up to $30.55 per hour.

Duties include non-driving tasks such as forklift operation and dock work, plus driving responsibilities and compliance with DOT regulations. Responsibilities include pre/post-trip inspections, trailer hookups, freight handling, load securement, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds and operate required equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies as required.
• Handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and customers about delays, arrivals, or issues.
• When needed, perform road driver or freight handler duties.
• Follow DOT regs and company policies.
