Job summary

State of South Carolina Department of Transportation in Charleston seeks an experienced supervisor to lead highway maintenance crews and manage equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, and trucks. This role requires strong leadership, safety oversight and the ability to document work in HMMS.

Candidates must have at least 3.5 years of related work experience and obtain a Class A CDL within six months. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• 3.5 years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Plans, supervises, directs, evaluates and manages activities of highway maintenance crews.
• Documents all activities in the Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS).
• Ensures safety, trains staff in CDL compliance and fleet safety.
• Coordinates with supervision and leads in emergency response and customer service tasks.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
