Job summary

The City of Albuquerque seeks a Commercial Refuse Driver to perform collection and transport duties using roll-offs, rear loaders, or transfer trucks with a PTO. This role requires operating hydraulic systems, loading refuse, and assisting with unloading at landfills, while performing routine maintenance and pre/post-trip inspections.

You will follow safety practices, work on specified routes, and coordinate with supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; WorkKeys assessments required if no diploma.
• WorkKeys Workplace Documents and Graphic Literacy tests required with specified levels.
• CDL Class A or B preferred; COP within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Drive to collection points and operate PTO-controlled hydraulic systems.
• Load and transport garbage, empty containers into the compactor, and assist with unloading at landfill.
• Perform routine maintenance; conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain assigned refuse routes and follow safety procedures at all times.
• Coordinate with supervisor for operational decisions and report status daily.
• Operate heavy equipment and transport trailers as needed to clean streets and highways.
