Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Driver Trainee in Kansas to begin a career path toward earning a CDL and becoming a fully qualified Driver in one of our business lines, including Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off. The program provides classroom study, on-route training, and hands-on experience with a loaner truck.

During the 12-month progression, you will learn vehicle inspections, safe operation, route handling, and compliance with safety policies.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Successfully complete Republic Services’ CDL training program, including classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and resources to take the CDL examination.
• Complete twelve full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn to perform pre- and post-operation inspections of the assigned vehicle per company policy.
• Learn to safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and service each customer as identified.
• Learn to operate manual and/or automatic controls while following safety policies to load refuse and dispose of material at the facility.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers as per procedures, and monitor waste quality.
• Monitor the condition of the assigned vehicle to minimize downtime and ensure readiness, keeping the vehicle clean.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures and perform duties of a Driver after CDL attainment.
