Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional truck driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-point locations using tractor-trailer combinations.

The role requires a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat, and tank endorsements, plus eligibility per DOT regulations. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, loading/unloading freight, documenting logs, and coordinating with dispatch.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• 1 year experience within the most recent 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory compliance under 49 CFR 391.
• LCV operation experience in specified states and required standards.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook-up and break down heavy trailer sets; lift approx. 100 lbs.
• Ability to sit long periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles (and triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch about delays, arrivals, or problems.
• May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires.
• May perform duties of a city driver or dock employee when needed.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
