Job summary

Performance Food Group is hiring a Shuttle Driver to transport trailers on intrastate and interstate routes. Expect 2 weeks of training in Temple, TX, 3rd shift Sunday–Thursday, with pay from $60,000 to $70,000 annually and a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Benefits include health, 401(k), and education assistance.

Role emphasizes safety checks, DOT compliance, and efficient trailer handling. You will coordinate with dispatch, maintain logs, and ensure proper loading and securement of freight.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6-12 months commercial driving experience preferred.
• Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement required.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Clean MVR for past 3 years.
• Work the 3rd shift schedule (Sun–Thu nights, hours may vary).
• Pass pre-employment drug test.
• Pass road test.
• Valid DOT Health Card or able to secure one.
• Ability to lift 60–90 lb and move freight.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety checks (pre/post trip) on tractor/trailer per DOT regulations.
• Report safety issues or required repairs promptly.
• Comply with DOT regulations and safe driving guidelines; report hazards.
• Inspect trailer to ensure freight is properly loaded and secured.
• Maintain route paperwork with tractor-trailer for dispatch.
• Drive and deliver trailers according to the planned schedule.
• Perform hook/unhook procedures safely.
• Park and store tractors and trailers in designated areas.
• Ensure equipment and freight are secured at all times.
• Handle damaged goods and returns, complete necessary paperwork.
• Record hours of service and log per company and federal requirements.
• Keep the tractor and loading dock area clean and organized.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
