Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Maintenance Equipment Operator to operate and maintain medium duty equipment, including tandem dump trucks, skid steers, aggregate spreaders, and related road maintenance tasks.

The role requires six months of related work experience or an approved equivalence, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within six months. Work may include on-call hours and emergency operations.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain medium duty equipment (dump trucks, skid steers, loaders).
• Perform roadway maintenance including pothole patching, drainage, shoulders.
• Control traffic during road work to protect workers and the public.
• Assist in emergencies and be on-call 24 hours.
• Participate in other related duties as assigned.
