Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a skilled equipment operator for roadway maintenance and construction tasks within the county. The role involves operating tandem dump trucks and supporting equipment to haul materials and perform repairs across various conditions.

Responsibilities include flagging traffic, performing pre-operation maintenance, and working extended hours during emergencies or inclement weather.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• May be required to work outside of normal hours during emergencies or inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate tandem dump trucks for hauling materials (asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, debris).
• Perform maintenance tasks and repair work on roads and related structures.
• Assist in operating other medium equipment (belt loader, roller, skid steer).
• Flag traffic and ensure safety of workers and public during road repairs.
