Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines is seeking a Class A CDL truck driver in New Jersey to safely operate tractor-trailers, comply with FMCSA regulations, and deliver freight to customers. The role includes pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining required records, and handling hazardous materials where permitted.

Occasional over-the-road assignments may be required as business needs dictate. A strong safety mindset and the ability to work independently or in a team are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• 21 years of age per FMCSA regulations; 1 year driving experience required.
• Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• Must be registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
• Must reside within 75 miles of the domiciled Service Center and/or work assignment
• HazMat, Tanker and Doubles endorsements required
• Must be able to drive a tractor trailer per FMCSA requirements
• Stable employment history preferred
• Ability to operate a forklift (min 7,500 lb)
• Must be able to push/pull a loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck (min 70 lbs)
• Physical activities include standing, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing
• Must be able to couple trailers and crank landing gear
• Must meet FMCSA English language requirements
• Must be able to lift approx. 70 lbs
• Must drive on all routes and terrains
• Must adapt to various weather conditions
• Must operate all safety and vehicle functions
• Must comply with company policies and conduct
• Must interact well with others
• Must work independently or in a team
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor/trailer safely following company and FMCSA regulations.
• Maintain records in compliance with local, state, and federal rules.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Report maintenance issues to Fleet Services or supervision.
• Handle loading/unloading at docks per business needs.
• Provide professional and courteous service to customers.
• May drive over-the-road as required by business needs.
• Attend and participate in required safety programs and briefings.
