Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Maintainer to perform maintenance, repair and upkeep of roads, bridges and related structures. The role requires a Class A CDL with X or N endorsements and the ability to work in various outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of four years of high school or equivalent.
• Must possess a Class “A” CDL with endorsements including X or N and no airbrake restrictions.
• Requires one year of driving experience immediately preceding appointment with a clean record.

Responsibilities

• Operates CDL Class A licensed vehicles.
• Performs labor related to maintenance of roadways and roadside features.
• Assists in snow and ice control during winter conditions.
• Maintains records and performs routine housekeeping at headquarters.
• Removes trash and debris along highways and disposes of waste as needed.
• Performs other duties as required within the scope of assigned tasks.
