Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation seeks to hire a Highway Maintainer to perform a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair and upkeep of roads, bridges and other related structures and features.

The position is unionized and requires a Class A CDL with N or X endorsements, plus at least a high school level education and one year of incident-free driving experience. You will work in Lynn Center, IL with a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of four years of high school or equivalent.
• Possession of a Class A CDL with X or N endorsements and no airbrake restrictions.
• One year of driving experience immediately preceeding appointment, free of incidents.

Responsibilities

• Operates CDL Class A licensed vehicles.
• Performs labor related to maintenance of roadways and roadside features.
• Assists in snow and ice control during winter conditions.
• Maintains records and handles routine housekeeping at headquarters.
• Responds to emergencies as part of the union workplace.
