Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Maintainer for Sangamon County, Riverton Team, to perform maintenance, repair and upkeep of roads, bridges and related structures. The position requires a Class A CDL with endorsements (X or N) and one year of driving experience, with duties including snow/ice control and roadside upkeep.

Anticipated starting salary is $7,154 monthly, with a full range of $7,154–$8,936 monthly.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of four years of high school or equivalent
• Requires possession of a Class “A” CDL with endorsements (X or N) and no airbrake restrictions
• Requires one year of driving experience immediately preceding appointment with clean record

Responsibilities

• Operates CDL Class A licensed vehicles.
• Performs labor relating to maintenance of roadways.
• Assists in snow and ice control during winter conditions.
• Maintains roadside and right-of-way
• Performs routine housekeeping at headquarters.
• Removes trash and debris along highways.
• Maintains on-the-job records.
• Other duties as assigned within scope
