Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Maintainer for the Henry County - Lynn Center Team to maintain roads, bridges, and related structures. This in-office role requires a Class A CDL with X or N endorsements and no airbrake restrictions, plus one year of driving experience.

The position is full-time, in Illinois, with standard hours of 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Applicants must apply electronically and be prepared for pre-employment checks and USDOT screening.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of four years of high school or equivalent.
• Requires a Class A CDL with an X or N endorsement and no airbrake restrictions.
• Requires one year of driving experience immediately preceding appointment without incidents.

Responsibilities

• Operate CDL Class A licensed vehicles.
• Perform labor related to maintenance of roadways and roadside properties.
• Assist in snow and ice control during winter conditions.
• Maintain roads, bridges and related structures.
• Perform routine housekeeping at headquarters.
• Remove trash and debris from highways.
• Maintain on-the-job records and reports.
• Perform other duties within scope as needed.
