Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking temporary Snow Removal Operators for the 2026/2027 Snow and Ice Season. Operators will drive CDL Class A or B vehicles and perform a variety of road maintenance tasks including snow and ice control, equipment servicing, and grounds care.

Positions are temporary and on-call with non-benefit terms, located across multiple team sections in Illinois. This role requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions and to respond quickly to

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge and experience driving CDL vehicles with appropriate endorsements.
• Must be able to perform arduous outdoor labor in varied weather conditions.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Operate CDL Class A or B licensed vehicles as needed for snow removal.
• Assist in emergency snow and ice control and routine equipment maintenance.
• Perform housekeeping duties and general care of headquarters grounds.
• Be available for on-call shifts and overtime as needed during winter season.
• Work as part of a team to ensure safe and efficient road maintenance.
