Job summary

Peak Utility Infrastructure is seeking an Operator II to join a 2–4 person crew and operate heavy equipment for utility installation and repair across residential, multifamily, and commercial sites. CDL A is required and safety/regulatory compliance is essential.

The role involves hands-on dirt work, map reading, and coordinating with team members to place utilities in accordance with project specs, while maintaining paperwork and vehicle readiness.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of backhoe/mini excavator operation experience.
• Experience digging around underground utilities.
• CDL Class A license is required.
• Ability to work in a 2–4 person crew and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operates and drives vehicles or mechanized equipment.
• Uses control mechanisms to operate machines.
• Inspects equipment and materials for defects.
• Determines compliance with laws, regulations, and standards.
• Performs mid-level labor tasks including hand digging and setting up traffic control on safety-sensitive sites.
• Reads utility prints and maps proficiently.
• Has 6+ months of independent equipment operation experience (directional drill, mini).
• Meets company and customer specs for trench or backhoe work.
• Manually exposes underground utilities.
• Operates trucks in compliance with safety regulations and DOT rules.
• Follows DVIR and driver’s log reporting procedures.
• Maintains licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance.
• Performs equipment cleaning, greasing, and fluid checks.
• Works with a teammate using hand signals for safe excavation.
• Follows 811 digging laws and safe digging practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
