Job summary

Hulcher Services is seeking a CDL A Heavy Equipment Operator Apprentice I to train with veteran crews and operate specialized heavy equipment in railroad derailment response. You will learn to recover railcars and locomotives using cranes, hydraulic systems, and related machinery.

This full-time role requires travel up to 50%, a 24/7 emergency response mindset, weekly pay, and company-paid benefits as you build a long-term career in a unique industry with advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with no restrictions.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work in a 24/7 emergency response environment.
• Physically demanding work, including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights exceeding 25 feet.

Responsibilities

• Transport specialized heavy equipment using tractor-trailers and escort vehicles.
• Assist with railroad derailment recovery operations.
• Learn to operate heavy recovery equipment under supervision.
• Handle heavy chains, wire rope, rigging equipment, lifting blocks, and recovery tools.
• Climb on and beneath railcars and locomotives during recovery operations.
• Perform equipment setup, maintenance, cleaning, and inspections.
• Use hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
• Work safely around active railroads, heavy equipment, and industrial environments.
