Job summary

Hulcher Services Inc. is hiring for a CDL A Heavy Equipment Operator Apprentice I in Texas. The role involves operating specialized equipment used in railroad derailment response, with hands-on training and travel up to 50%.

You’ll join a full-time, year-round team providing emergency response and recovery services. You’ll operate cranes and heavy machinery, learn safety procedures, and support railcar recovery operations under experienced technicians.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with no restrictions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel up to 50%
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 emergency response environment
• Background screenings and pre-employment requirements
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs frequently
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Able to work at heights and around water when required

Responsibilities

• Transport specialized heavy equipment using tractor-trailers and escort vehicles.
• Assist with railroad derailment recovery operations.
• Learn to operate heavy recovery equipment under supervision.
• Handle rigging gear, chains, and recovery tools.
• Climb on and around railcars during recovery operations.
• Set up, inspect, and maintain equipment and tools.
• Use hand/power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
• Support safe operations around active rail infrastructure.
