Job summary

Hulcher Services Inc. is seeking a CDL A Heavy Equipment Operator Apprentice I to join our emergency railroad response team.

You will train with experienced crews operating cranes, hydraulic equipment, and recovery machinery to safely recover derailed railcars and locomotives across your region. This hands-on role requires a valid Class A CDL, readiness to travel, and a commitment to safety in a demanding outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with no restrictions.
• Ability to travel up to 50% and work in a 24/7 emergency environment.
• Ability to pass background screenings and pre-employment requirements.
• Physically demanding work; lift up to 100 lbs occasionally; 50 lbs frequently.
• Comfortable outdoors in all weather and at heights over 25 feet.

Responsibilities

• Transport specialized heavy equipment using tractor-trailers and escort vehicles.
• Assist with railroad derailment recovery operations.
• Learn to operate heavy recovery equipment under supervision.
• Handle heavy rigging equipment and recovery tools; inspect and maintain gear.
• Work around heavy equipment, active railroads, bridges, and industrial sites.
• Follow all safety procedures and operational standards.
