Job summary

Hulcher Services Inc. is hiring a CDL A Heavy Equipment Operator Apprentice I in Texas. This full-time role involves operating specialized heavy equipment used in railroad derailment response, with up to 50% travel and 24/7 emergency operations. Training is provided and benefits are company-paid.

You will learn to recover derailed railcars and locomotives using cranes, hydraulic equipment, and other machinery, working alongside experienced operators in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with no restrictions.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 emergency response environment.
• Capable of performing physically demanding work including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Transport specialized heavy equipment using tractor-trailers and escort vehicles.
• Assist with railroad derailment recovery operations.
• Learn to operate heavy recovery equipment under supervision.
• Handle heavy rigging equipment and recovery tools.
• Climb on and beneath railcars and locomotives during operations.
• Perform maintenance, setup, and inspections of equipment.
• Use tools, torches, and welding equipment as needed.
• Work safely around active railroads and heavy equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and operational standards.

Skills
