Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process. Starting pay is $31.26 per hour.

Essential duties include operating tractor-trailer combos, conducting safety inspections, securing freight, and handling documentation. Compliance with DOT regs and customer service are key parts of the role, with benefits including health, vision, dental insurance, and a 401(k).

Qualifications

• Must hold a Class A CDL with double/triple and hazmat/tank endorsements (automatic restriction allowed).
• One year of experience in the last three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT 391 FMC regulations.
• Knowledge of basic math and ability to count.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times per week.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, and climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations (including doubles/triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies as needed.
• Handle freight with motorized/manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit more business.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
• Ask for additional business and relay leads to sales.
• May perform tire chaining or duties of road driver/dock employee as needed.
• Comply with laws and company policies; perform other duties as required.
