Job summary

McLane is hiring a Trainee Component Driver in Oregon. The role trains to become a Driver by gaining exposure to warehouse and operations while learning safe driving and delivery procedures.

The program includes day-one medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus paid holidays, vacation, and 401(k) after 90 days. You will start with a pay rate of $31.55 per hour during training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by McLane customers.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product.
• Communicate with customers, management, and other teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer and use related equipment.
• English reading/writing at required level for safety and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure.
• Operates truck in a safe manner in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects and submit DOT inspection report.
• Operate Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) and document deliveries and temps.
• Ride and train with Driver Trainer to learn driving and maneuvering.
• Maintain driver logs according to DOT regulations.
• Assist the Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product.
• Provide customer service including on-time delivery and handling returns/credits.
• Other duties as assigned.
