Job summary

Performance Food Group is looking for an entry-level Driver Trainee in the New Windsor, MD area to learn tractor-trailer or straight truck routes, handle intrastate and interstate deliveries, and unload products with a focus on safety and DOT compliance.

You will train on pre/post trip inspections, safety protocols, and route delivery procedures, with potential for growth within the company and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent.
• 0-6 months commercial driving experience
• Valid CDL A
• Must be 21 years of age
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
• Pass post offer drug test
• Pass road test
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card
• Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move freight up to 90 pounds

Responsibilities

• Attends and completes PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
• Rides-with and assists driver trainer in executing deliveries.
• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) per DOT regulations; inspect tractor/truck and trailer.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
• Inspect trailer and verify freight paperwork; move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to route schedule.
• Unload products, secure trailer, and obtain customer signatures; handle returns as needed.
• Ensure equipment and freight are secured at all times.
• Complete daily hours of service logs per regulations.
• Perform general housekeeping and complete necessary paperwork.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
